The Eagles (Almost Wouldn't) Have Landed

This day in History:

4 July 1776

America gets it's independence from Britain after a bloody revolution.I think it was one of the last battles/wars ever fought on American soil.America has gone to war in other countries though, but never really had a battle in their own backyard ever since.

However, on this day, the King of England at the time, one of the Georges (III probably because George V kicked it in the 20th century and IV would've probably have been too young). Anyways the George King (III?) wrote the following in his diary as his entry for the day, on this very day that America was proclaimed independent:
"Nothing important happened today".

I think his son replaced him on the throne because he later went insane. Go figure...

Thought I'd share that
rah*

PS got the America's funniest home videos theme song stuck in my head now for some reason.

"We didn't land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on us." - Malcolm X

Different topic :P Anyway, the land of the free now has the patriot act :P which means they are trading their privacy for their security.

The risk is they may end up losing both :P

viva Las Vegas.

lol. So there was no massive alien attack on the White house and Will Smith hasn't gone of to destroy the mothership?

Yeah I guess George III figured America would not amount to much, never knowing they would one day become a superpower.

Off-topic but I always wondered why do people name their children after themselves, and put a roman numeral or junior after their name, how boring and unoriginal.

So King George was a blogger, he seemed to capture the spirit of alot of our current day bloggers with that post.

lol @ cobain, yeah guess not

@ muhammad: yes, that's one of the great ironies of our time I think.Freedom they fought for, but now they fight for less freedom in the hope of more perceived freedom.

@ shiraz: lol yeah that's my point exactly. Not everyone recognises greatness when they see it.

@ waseem: LOL @ that analogy

@ lord of erewhon: thanks

@ priya: get hold of this book called Royal Murder Mysteries by Raymond something or the other. You'll see most of Europe's royalty didn't have their elevators going all the way to penthouse.

@ dragan: yeah current George in power included.

@ blog_critic: lol thanks :)
